Boom behind the scenes Katie Wagner: Anastacia is a freak of nature. The hot New York native is quickly becoming a star. Recently a featured performer on Diva's Las Vegas side by side with Cher, Mary J. Blige and Celine Dion. Anastacia also pinned the official song for the FFA world cup. She'll perform it at half time at the final match June 30, an event that will be seen by hundreds of millions around the world, but for now she's just focusing on her new release. Anastacia: Freak of Nature is an album that has pop, rock, funck elements, but it's more on the pop and rock side. My voice however is more on the character, passion, soulful. It's very big and loud as well, and the album itself is just a really free spirited way. I wrote the whole album, so it comes from what I believe and what I think. Katie Wagner: Freak of Nature has already become a big hit internationally, but Anastacia's set to strike gold and platinum right here in the US with today's release of her album Freak of Nature. One way to help insure a splashy open in the US, a high profile appearance on VH1s Divas Las Vegas, another way, title your new CD Freak of Nature. Anastacia: Okay, no I don't have a bad impress of myself and no I don't need therapy. Freak of Nature is just a phrase that I use that represented back in the day, people thinking that my voice was very freaky compared to my look. It did not match, I didn't fit in, I was an outcast, I was the stamp that wasn't a popular stamp. I'm a very strong woman so there's a lot of strength and power in this album, so I think that people that are looking for that kinda thing may be able to dabble a little bit in Freak of Nature Katie Wagner: Honesty is another quality the LA bases singer sprinkled all over her album Anastacia: I'm an artist who believes in honesty. I'm an artist that even in my Bio, I discuss that I have a disease called Chrons disease. I don't believe in living your life in fear and becoming a victim of negativity and what society pours on you to scare you away from living. Katie Wagner: Once the self proclaimed Freak of Nature accepted who she was, good things started to come Anastacia's way. Anastacia: I no longer stood into the freak category however I was still the same person. So to me I said, you know what, I want to be the freak of today. I want to be the freak that is ok with being what she is, okay with wearing glasses, ok with being extremely flamboyant and who she likes to be, and how she is vocally, and the charismaticness, and that's fine. K: Anastacia's big break came when record producers caught her performance on MTVs The Cut and signed her to a deal.
